In 2012 seven local, dedicated artists combined their creative talents and started an art cooperative for the purpose of providing local and regional artists with a place to display and sell their art. A local businessman provided space in a building, previously a bakery, and the 211 Art Gallery was off and running. Initially named the Art Matters Co-op and Gallery, the doors opened to the public in June. Currently there are over 40 artists with works on display at the Gallery.
The 211 Art Gallery’s mission is to support, stimulate and encourage artists by providing a display gallery open to the public, provide opportunities to participate in judged art shows, and to provide art exhibits and classes.
