The temperatures are dropping and events are booming! 

Listed below are all the events in Athens, Texas happening in September. While you are in town, check out the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center, The East Texas Arboretum, Rocky Ridge Drive-Thru Safari, Downtown Shops, New York Texas Zipline Adventures, and all five wineries around town.

Every Saturday: Athens Farmers Market in the City Parking Lot from 9a – 1p. Last month until May!

Fall into Athens Decorating Contest. Call Keep Athens Beautiful at 903-675-7961 to enter your festive store front display. Decorating must be complete by October 13th. Voting will happen on October 15th.

 

Oct 1: Athens Hornet Football vs Henderson at Bruce Field. Kick off at 7:30p.

Oct 2: Comic Con at The Texan hosted by Henderson County Clint W. Murchison Memorial Library from 9a to 2p.

Oct 2: TVCC Cardinals Football vs Cisco College at Bruce Field. Kick off at 3:00p.

Oct 9: Fall Festival at the East Texas Arboretum from 9a – 3p.

Oct 8 – 10: Fire It Up Team Roping at the Henderson County Regional Fair Park.

Oct 16: Purple Purse Bingo benefitting the Family Peace Project at The Texan from 11a – 3p.

Oct 16 & 17: TPEA Palomino Horse Show at the Henderson County Regional Fair Park.

Oct 22: Athens Hornet Football vs Palestine at Bruce Field. Kick off at 7:30p.

Oct 23: National Prescription Take Back Drug Day hosted by Keep Athens Beautiful at Athens Partnership Center from at 10a – 2p.

Oct 23: TVCC Cardinals Football vs Navarro College at Bruce Field. Kick off at 1:00p. TVCC/HCJC Homecoming Game.

Oct 23 & 24: Lone Star High School Rodeo Association at the Henderson County Regional Fair Park.

Oct 28: Halloween at the Hatchery from 6p – 8p at the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center.

Oct 30: Cornhole Tournament starting at 10 at the Henderson County Regional Fair Park hosted by the Athens Chamber of Commerce.

Oct 30: Drive Thru Trunk or Treat starting at 4p and last car at 6p at the Henderson County Regional Fair Park. Hosted by Athens Chamber of Commerce, United Way, and the City of Athens.
